Chanticleer is an exquisite garden located in Wayne. According to the Washington Post, Chanticleer is one of the most interesting and edgy public gardens in America. The garden is open April through October, Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am until 5 pm. During the months of May through August enjoy a stroll Friday evenings until 8 pm.
Adolph Rosengarten, Jr., whose family firm became part of the Merck & Company, left the Chanticleer estate for the enjoyment and education of the public. The main house, at the entrance to the garden was the home of Emily, Adolph's sister. The home of Adolph Jr. and his wife Janet Newlin is now the site of the Ruin Garden.
